This is a sample of what our new e-newsletter will look like. Individuals will subscribe and unsubscribe directly from our website. (This feature is currently not live for testing.)

The first e-newsletter will coincide with the release of the new website in October 2016. We'll be using this publication to disseminate information to our stakeholders including new course information and relevant food safety stories. If you have any ideas for stories, please let us know.

MarketSafe Online Course

Produce at market

In fall 2015 we launched the new MarketSafe online course at Open School BC. The online format allows individuals working at local farmer's markets, farm gate or other types of temporary food markets, access to the course at their convenience.

MarketSafe – New Instructor Guide and Student Workbook

As part of the creation of a new online course, we had the opportunity to review and update our MarketSafe curriculum and publications. We're proud to say that the new MarketSafe Student Workbook and the Instructor Guide will be available for purchase by November 2016 (or earlier).

Upcoming Changes to FOODSAFE Level 1

A number of changes have been made to the FOODSAFE Level 1 program recently. Information about poultry, eggs, oysters and raw shellfish, and food allergies has been added or expanded upon. A communication will go out to all BC stakeholders, including certified FOODSAFE instructors in late fall 2016 with the intent for the new/revised curriculum to be taught as of January 2017. More information will be relayed in October 2016.

These changes will also be reflected in the FOODSAFE Level 1 online and correspondence courses as well as the FOODSAFE Refresher course and Food Safety Basics.

New Website

The FOODSAFE Secretariat is proud to announce that the new public FOODSAFE website, which allows for ease of use on multiple devices (computers, tablets and Smartphones), will be rolled out in October 2016.
